A riverside town in Pictou County

This small town is located in northern Nova Scotia, on the banks of the East River of Pictou. These photos show the George Street Bridge, East River and the surrounding area.

Viola's Way

A section of Forbes Street in downtown is named "Viola's Way" in honor of Viola Desmond, who was arrested for sitting in the whites-only section of a movie theatre in 1946, in protest of racial segregation. Now, Viola is featured on the new Canadian $10-bill!
